Pine, Gnom Mugo

Some consider this the best mugo Pine, and it is very frequently requested by our customers. Its deep, jade green needles and very tight growth habit are very desirable and are what stood out to growers when it was introduced 50 years ago in Holland. ‘Gnom’ is slow growing with ornamental winter buds that are long and resinous. After ten years of growth, one can expect a globose plant approximately three feet in diameter. While we do grow it in its bush form, we find that mugo ‘Gnom’ has been most popular for us grafted on two-foot standards.
